Islands & Beaches

  • 3 Weeks

Compare and contrast the seaside delights of Peninsular Malaysia with those of Malaysian Borneo on this itinerary that covers beaches and islands big and small.

From Kuala Lumpur start by making a day trip to the atmospheric fishing village of Pulau Ketam for tasty seafood. Moving north, Pulau Pangkor has good beaches; for something more exclusive, though, spend the night on the resort island of Pulau Pangkor Laut, with access to the idyllic beach at Emerald Beach.

Pulau Langkawi is blessed with several lovely beaches including Pantai Cenang and Pantai Kok. You can also make boat trips to the nearby island of Pulau Dayang Bunting to swim in a freshwater lake.

Return to KL to fly to Sarawak, where good beaches can be found in both Bako National Park and Similajau National Park. Another flight will take you Kota Kinabalu, the jumping off point for the cluster of islands in Tunku Abdul Rahman National Park. For underwater adventures, don't miss out on the spectacular dive sites around the islands of the Tun Sakaran Marine Park, including the limestone pinnacle Pulau Sipadan.
