Lodges and guides can organise activities including windsurfing, snorkelling, boat trips, spotting otters by kayak and learning to dive.
Nonguests can use the beach and facilities at Steps Campsite, but be warned that it gets extremely busy at weekends.
From Senga Bay town, you can go hiking in the nearby Senga Hills; the woodland is beautiful, and the viewpoints overlooking the lake are well worth the effort. You may spot vervet monkeys, baboons, rock hyraxes (dassies) and birdlife along the way. It’s easiest to hire a local guide, but you can ask your accommodation for directions and tackle the walk yourself.
Lizard Island Trips
You could take a trip out to nearby Lizard Island (around US$60) to see its population of giant monitor lizards and cormorant colony, although both are dwindling due to human activity.
