Walking Tour

Try to spend half a day wandering Livingstonia's dusty lanes, soaking up the historical atmosphere and looking out for relics including the David Gordon Memorial Hospital, once Central Africa's biggest hospital; the stone cairn marking the spot where missionary Dr Robert Laws and his African companion Uriah Chirwa camped in 1894, when they decided to build the mission here; House No 1, the original home of Dr Laws before he moved into Stone House; the clock tower; and the training centre built by the early missionaries, now a technical college. All are within strolling distance of one another.
