Bicycle

Velóh Short-hop shared bike-hire scheme with 683 bikes across 75 docking stations. The initial subscription is payable by credit card at one of 25 special stands; locations are listed online.

Vélo en Ville Hires out city bikes and tandems.

Bus

  • Detailed maps of bus routes are available (in French) at www.vdl.lu.
  • Purchase tickets at the Gare Centrale, vending machines at major stops, or from the driver.
  • Tickets (€2/4 for two hours/whole day) are good for all city and national transport.
  • Most buses operate from 5.30am to 10pm; on Friday and Saturday nights there’s also a limited night bus service.
  • On Saturdays during the day, most buses are free to encourage city-centre shopping.

Tram

  • Luxembourg's tram line links Place de l'Étoile with Kirchberg between 6.30am and midnight Monday to Friday, 8.15am and midnight Saturday and 5.30am and midnight on Sunday.
  • The same tickets for domestic trains and buses (per two hours/day €2/4) are valid.
  • Download maps at www.vdl.lu.
  • By 2021, the line will extend to Luxembourg Airport to the northeast, and Cloche d'Or in the southwest.

Car

  • The city's pedestrian zone is ringed by underground parking garages, with rates typically starting at €2 per hour (€0.80 per hour overnight).
  • Street parking is limited with many areas catering to residents only. Where available it costs €2 per hour and is free on Sundays, with a maximum stay of two hours.
