Some Info

Hi

I have booked a 10 day trip to Lithuania spontaneously.

I am a backpacker, so mostly stay in hostels and use public transport.

I am not a museum type of person and would mostly see the highlights of each country.

Could some give me a rough idea of an itinerary please, if possible I would like to see Latvia as well.

Any good recommendations on hostels to meet some fellow travelers would also be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi,
We are students arriving to Lithuania and Latvia on June. We would really like to do a beautiful, few days (2-3-4 days) hike in the nature. We want to do it independently( no tour company) and can either camp on the way or stay in local villages.
Could you offer an advise an a specific trail or even just an area you recommended for that?

Many thanks,
Dina

We have got flights to stay one week in Vilnius in May, have two babies 2/4. I am wondering if I should stay the whole time in the city and maybe do two daytours and then we might not need to rent a car. Or is there a place you think is a must to visit and stay in within 2 hours from Vilnius? With a big stroller we are not going hiking around national parks or anything like that.
And if someone knows a taxi company with babyseats that would be great.

Hi

I'm travelling to Vilnius in a couple of days.

I've read some reports about taxi drivers at the airport ripping people off. Are there are any tips to avoid this? I understand that the best way may be to telephone a taxi company, but so far I've only learned 2 or 3 words of Lithuanian! I tried to sign up to the app etacsi, but it wouldn't let me register with a foreign telephone number.

Thanks

Hi

I've booked a last minute holiday to Vilnius (I have to use up my holiday before March or else I lose it) and I am going to be there over the Easter weekend (returning to the UK on Easter Sunday). I've just belatedly realised that many places may be closed.
Will much be open over the Easter weekend? For example are bars, restaurants & supermarkets likely to be open at all?
Thank you

I just wonder if it's common with scams in Vilnius bars? This girl talked to me in a bar last night here, and she said all sorts of things that made me suspect I was dealing with a scammer. Or am I just being paranoid? I know this is relatively common in Riga and Budapest, but then they meet you on the street and lead you to a bar, so a bit different.

Would you recommend visiting Kaunas, Vilnius and Trakai over 3 days or just stick to Vilnius with a day trip to Trakai? Going for a long weekend but trying to decide whether to book the flights into and out of Vilnius or an going into Kaunas and out of Vilnius.

We’re looking at hiring bicycles to cycle from Lithuania to Estonia next summer. There is a company in Klaipeda who will transport luggage to the end point and pick the bicycles up from there as well. In working out an itinerary I would like to know how easy it would be to travel by train or bus with bicycles if we want to skip some sections.
If anyone has done independent cycling through these countries recently and has some advice, it would be much appreciated.

Hello, I’m looking for a bit of advice. A couple of friends and I would love to visit Palanga and have some time off work from 17th to 21st May next year, we are able to get a good price on flights and accommodation. I have read a few guides that comment how seasonal Palanga is and that many of the bars, clubs and restaurants are only open during the summer season. Unfortunately no one seems able to tell me when the summer season starts. Has anyone visited Palanga at this time of year and…
