This is the best value all inclusive tour available.  This is an exclusive trip offered 'only' by Major Adventures where there are no tour busses or tourists from other places.  You will experience a full Sani Pass Day tour in a 4x4 vehicle and see 'The Highest Pub'. In addition you will travel deep into the Lesotho Highland and visit a small remote village. Observe traditional healer, secret rituals and song and dance routines.  Interact with daily lives of the community.The price includes a delicious packed lunch, all activities and an amount donated to the village person as this is a sustainable tourism project. Duration is 9 to 10 hours departing and leaving from our office in the centre of town.  This tour is always a winner!
This tour is for all ages and fitness levels. There is a short walk involved.  The length of this tour is between 9 to 10 hours.  You will depart at 8:00 from our offices in the main road of Underberg and return by 17h30.  In some instances we may be able to collect you from your accommodation.  Please bring your valid Passport and Visa if necessary (check http://evisalesotho.com/visa-exemptions/ to see if you require a visa which can be purchased online). It is advisable to bring a warm jacket, an extra bottle of water, sunscreen, binoculars and your camera.  Your professional guide will direct you to your 4x4 vehicle and begin your adventure through our tiny town.   You will wind through farmlands and check through the South African border control.  Then the tour begins in earnest.  You will climb 1000 metres on a gravel road in for 8 kilometres through a World Heritage site and magnificent scenery to the Lesotho border post. You will see The Highest Pub in Africa (for a quick refreshment stop).   Then you head over the remote Lesotho Highlands and could see elusive shepherds in traditional blankets and hats and small isolated clusters of stone villages.  You then prepare to climb Black Mountain to an altitude of 3240 metres.  Winding down into the Makhupung valley you will see the 'Roof of Africa' in the distance.  Here your tour turns into an exclusive memory.  You will stop in the valley and walk across a sturdy metal foot bridge to enter a completely exclusive village.   There are no outside tourists or distractions and you will become the centre of this communities' life for the next few hours.    A private 'highly entertaining' village guide will meet you and introduce you to their daily lives.  You will meet an old woman who is a traditional healer for her village and still understands the value of herbal medicine. You will walk up to the small village and watch the women engage in very unique dance and song routines, which when explained assist in understanding the reason for these activities and in addition they will also perform some of the secret rituals of the community.  Watch bread making and interact with the children See their handmade arts and crafts.  You will enjoy a packed lunch before your guide ushers you into your vehicle for your journey home.  You will go back via the border and wind down through the astonishing Sani Pass bends which is one of the most spectacular scenes in Africa.  Arriving back at your destination you will leave with memories of an experience which will remain long after the trip is forgotten, both for you and the people you have met.  Tourists have told us that this was for them a 'once in a lifetime' experience.
