Rīga in Your Pocket and Rīga This Week have the most up-to-date listings for opera, ballet, guest DJs, live music and other events around town – pick up copies in tourist information centres, museums, restaurants and hotel reception areas. The tourist office in the Blackheads House can help travellers book tickets at any concert venue around town.
Opera, Ballet & Theatre
Rīga’s ballet, opera and theatre season breaks for summer holidays (between June and September).
Short organ concerts are held at Rīga Cathedral throughout the week, with lengthier performances on a Friday night.
Catching a movie is a great way to spend a rainy day in Rīga (trust us, there are many). Films are generally shown in their original language – usually English – with Latvian or Russian subtitles. Tickets cost between €4 and €7 depending on the day of the week and venue. Check the cinemas’ websites for show-time details. All theatres (except K Suns) have assigned seating.
