We are taking a private car from Vang Vieng to Phonsavan in June and will arrive mid afternoon. Is it possible to hire a driver to take to see some Jars that afternoon and then see more in the early morning before our middle of the day flight to Vientiane? I know a few sites are are fair drive away from Phonsavan, but my Mum REALLY wants to go.

Good Afternoon

Does anybody know of a tour operator that conducts something like a 3-5 days tour from either Vientiane or Ho Chi Minh City to Khone Phapheng Falls in Laos. This is in Champassak Province, near Pakse, and almost to the Cambodian border (on the Mekong River). I am looking for something that is comparable with say what would be expected with Vietravel out of Vietnam (or even Saigon Tourist out of Vietnam). The reason I compare everything to Vietnam is because my group is all…

I am an older man who will be traveling from Thailand to Laos sometime in mid Sept. and want to find a traveling companion. I will pay all in-country expenses. More details in travel companions forum.

Long-time Lurker First Time Poster:

I'm interested in seeing (one or more of the) plain(s) of jars. What is the best way to go about this? There seem to be multiple sites with multiple ways of getting there from different cities, but the information I find online is kind of vague. I am willing to travel the long path to get to the better site(s) rather than just go to the over-touristed or very artificial ones, if that is a matter of concern. I am in decent shape but not in stellar shape, so I…

My boyfriend and I are heading to Savannakhet 26th April and plan to head north. We have a fair idea of some activities we are keen on (tubing, trekking, white water rafting) but flexiable with this. Keen to meet other fellow travellers! ... Don't be discouraged that we are a couple, we're super easy going and enjoy meeting new people

Hi. I'm heading over to Laos soon. I usually don't travel with cash as it is usually easy to get local cash at ATM's. Is this the case also in Laos? Can you get local Kip from ATM's in Luang Prabang and Vientiane without any issues? Are VISA/Mastercard accepted in shops and restaurants?

Hi all

Bit of a dull question but does anyone know how big the visa on arrival stamp for Laos is in your passport? I know in Cambodia it's the full page and I'm running low on space

Thanks

Clive

hello fellow travellers,
we are going to Laos and Cambodja for a month next year. As we do not like public transport, we would like to travel with private car and local driver/guide.
is it possible to find through local tourism agency , hotels or other local people? This to avoid the big expense if we book this through a travel agency from Europe.
if yes, do we need to do this before arriving or can we do this on the spot (like in Luang Prabang)
thanks for info and advice.
