Wat Phou was considered the centre of the Khmer kingdom until it was moved to Angkor Wat in the 12th century.Oumong also know as “ub mong”,” Muang Tomo ro Um Tomo” is a small temple ruin date back to the IXthcentury during reign of the khmer king Yasovanan and dedicated to Rudani , An aspect of shiva’s consort. The temple is immersed in an vocation dipterocarp tree forest and consist of esplanade bordered by lingams and two crumbling laterite sanctuaries.It is located at about 45 km south of route 13 and a road sign, on the right side will indicate where to turn (The dirt road of about 4 km has been recently improved) It is also possible to reach the site by boat from pakse or other landing sites like ban muang (the boat landing opposite champasak town) and champasak town.
