Make your own magic lantern
You will need:
- Bendy lengths of willow
- Coloured tissue paper
- Masking tape
- PVA glue
- Black pens
- Glow sticks or small torches
Make the lanterns indoors. Build the basic shape from willow, taping it together with masking tape. Make a sturdy base so you can attach a torch or a glow stick.
If you wish to carry your lantern, attach a willow loop or some string firmly to the top.
Cover the willow frame with a layer of tissue paper, sticking the sheets together with slightly diluted PVA glue. Let the paper dry and then add one or two more layers to strengthen it.
When the glue has dried, use more tissue paper and a black pen to add staring eyes, a red nose, big teeth and other goblin and troll features.
Light up your lantern and head out for an adventure.
