Your grown-up needs to read this bit!
If you are the parent or guardian of a child who wishes to enter this competition, we ask that you read these terms and conditions on behalf of your child, as they contain important stuff you should know.
Each child who enters must have the consent of their parent or guardian.
How can my child enter and what can they win?
To enter, your child needs to design their own backyard bug (using either the template we have provided or a blank sheet of paper) and tell us what they think makes their bug special. Please email your child’s entry to firstname.lastname@example.org, and include all of the following:
By entering, you accept these terms and conditions and agree that Lonely Planet can share your child’s entry on the Lonely Planet Kids blog (http://www.lonelyplanet.com/kids/blog/) and on Lonely Planet’s Twitter and Facebook accounts.
Three (3) runner-up prize winners will each receive:
Total prize value is approximately £188.92. These prize values are accurate at the start of the competition.
How do I find out if my child has won?
Rather than consulting tea leaves, the winner will be selected by a panel of two judges, including 1 independent judge, who will decide the best overall winner.
The task of selecting the winners will happen in a small, dark room at 240 Blackfriars Road, London, SE1 8NW, UK on Wednesday 13th September 2017. No correspondence will be entered into, even if you think that sucks.
We’ll give the winner(s) the good news via the Parent/Guardian’s email account on Thursday 14th September 2017. If you’re riddled with curiosity, send an email to email@example.com (including the name of the promotion) within 3 months of the Closing Date, and we’ll respond and tell you who won.
Lonely Planet will do its best to find the prize winner(s). But if we can’t, or if the prize hasn’t been accepted by 14th December 2017, the next best entry will be declared winner. Where there is a compelling technical or administrative reason out of Lonely Planet’s control, the winner(s) will be selected from all eligible entries received at that time.
If your child wins…
You can’t exchange the prize for cash, or ask us to give it to someone else (not that you’d want to!). We will use reasonable efforts to award the prize as described but if due to unforeseen circumstances we are unable to do that, we’ll substitute it for another prize of comparable value.
What happens to my child’s entry?
In the event that your child is a winner or runner-up, unless you’d like to opt-out of this licence by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org, you grant Lonely Planet the following copyright licence:
You give Lonely Planet a worldwide, licence to reproduce, publish, adapt, communicate and broadcast all or part of the entry on lonelyplanet.com and in relation to marketing the Design Your Own Bug competition, including on Twitter and Facebook.
Generally we will, to the extent practicable, attribute your child as the author.
