As the chilly weather brings a sprinkling of snow in the northern hemisphere we’ve got a new challenge to warm your little adventurers’ imaginations.  Follow the instructions below for a chance to win a bundle of Lonely Planet Kids books!

Raid the costume box or dig out those colouring pencils! Imagine you are off exploring in the ice-cold Arctic, adventuring through the snowy landscapes.  Send us a photo of you dressed in your best Arctic explorer’s outfit or draw us a picture of what you think an Arctic explorer would look like.  Think about how you will walk in the snow, how you will protect your extremities from frostbite and your eyes from the glare of the snow.

The most creative and inspiring entry will win a selection of Lonely Planet Kids books, including How to be a World Explorer.

There are three ways you can help your child enter the Arctic explorer competition:

1.  By email: Upload their photo, or scan or take a photo of their drawing, and send it from your email address to Lonely Planet at

2.  By post: Send their entry to us via post to:

Arctic explorer competition
c/o Lonely Planet
240 Blackfriars Rd

You will need to include your email address with any entry sent via registered post so we can contact you if your child’s entry is chosen as the winner.

3.  On your blog: Post your child’s entry to your blog and email the blog link to or tweet it to @LPKids.

Entries must be received by 2 March 2015.

With all photo entries, please include whether you are happy for us to share your child’s photo on Twitter.  This won’t affect their entry in any way.

The lucky winner will receive a selection of Lonely Planet Kids titles, valued at £60.
