This is a rare chance to spend a day in the life of Kenyan grandmas, as they invite you to share their lives and farming activities. There’s also lots of laughter, song and dance on this special day. The day is full of hope and your contribution in assisting to overcome generational poverty and in keeping children with their families will become obvious with each hour that you spend with the grandmas.The grandmas are part of a program whose ultimate aim is to assist them to keep their families together. To do this they have become part of a program which sets them up as small farm owners where they raise and sell pigs. To be able to do this, travelers are enlisted to get involved and each travelers contribution is a pig and feed which is paid for from their fees. As grandmas become self sufficient they leave the program with a sustainable income and a new grandma take their place, It's the ultimate program in helping people to step up and away from poverty. The pack includes an activity booklet, a box of crayons and 5 stickers all contained within a very cool Ol Pejeta bag. As you journey through the Conservancy, the idea is to work through all of the questions and games in the booklet. At the end of your journey, the Tourism Team at Morani Information Center will be waiting for you and will ask you to repeat the official ranger oath, before presenting you with a ranger hat, a certificate and an honorary pin.

Thanks to Ol Pejeta Conservancy’s private status it is able to offer night game drives, an activity not available in most national parks and reserves in Kenya. A night game drive offers visitors an opportunity to discover Ol Pejeta Conservancy ‘after hours’. With the help of a filtered spot light, the drives can produce some unusual sightings of nocturnal animals, including aardvark, white-tailed mongoose, zorillas and even perhaps, bat eared fox. Lion, often sleeping during the day are often sighted alert and active at night, and even on occasion, the more elusive leopard.

Take a morning or an evening ride within the 600-acre Endangered Species Enclosure, accompanied by knowledgeablestaff on Ol Pejeta’s safari horses. These rides will take you on a journey through a predator-free area set aside by OlPejeta for the recovery of the northern white rhinoceros. As well as meeting the last three remaining northern whiterhinos on the planet, you will ride through herds of the highly endangered Grevy’s zebra and Jackson’s hartebeest.You will also encounter many other species including southern white rhinos and a myriad of plains game. Morning andevening rides will conclude with tea and cake at the nearby Morani’s Restaurant.

Vehicle fees to access East Africa's premiere black rhino sanctuary, Ol Pejeta Conservancy. The vehicle fees and entry fees must both be paid to access Ol Pejeta and are applicable on a daily basis. The vehicle fee depends on the number of seats in the clients vehicle. Vehicles with few seats pay less and bigger vehicles are charged more. Venture out for close encounters with elephants, wild dog, lion, hyena, buffalo, cheetah, rhino, and all the plains herbivores. Early morning and evening are the best times to explore the Conservancy, as predators are on the hunt and their prey is on high alert.

Accompanied by one of our experienced armed rangers, these interpretive walks brings you up close and personal with the sights, smells and sounds of the African bush. There is no better way to earn your evening meal! The bush walk gives visitors the opportunity to learn about game trails and spoor identification as well as the insects, birds and smaller mammals of Ol Pejeta. The walk is not designed to be strenuous however a reasonable level of fitness is required, as you can expect to be walking for around two hours.

Visit Ol Pejeta’s anti-poaching dog unit. Interact with the dog keepers, and learn about what it takes to look after our highly trained canine team.After a tour of the kennels, clients are encouraged to try and evade our sniffer dogs. Run, jump, twist, turn and find somewhere to hide within the confines of the Morani Information Center area and see if our blood hounds can seek you out. Not only is this great fun for you, but you will also help in keeping the skills of our dogs in sharp shape.The activity is available once a day at 8:30 am and lasts for two hours.
