Travelling overland Africa and camping from Nairobi to Arusha should be on everyone’s bucket list – check it off your list early. Over 13 days, you’ll get a view of Africa that you’ve never imagined – all the wildlife and exotic animals that you’ve seen on TV, of course, but also visits with the Masai tribe in Kenya and friendly locals in rural villages. You’ll come home with a bunch of new friends, a ton of photos to spread across the internet, and memories for a lifetime.

Day 1 Nairobi Arrive at any time. Included Activities: Arrival Day and Welcome Meeting
Day 2 Nairobi/Lake Nakuru National Park (1B, 1L, 1D) Travel north from Nairobi through the Great Rift Valley stopping at Lake Nakuru National Park, home to a vast variety of birdlife. Camp outside of Nakuru town and within the Lake Nakuru NP, the area’s principal highlight and best natural attraction. Day 3 Lake Nakuru National Park/Loita Hills (1B, 1L, 1D) Travel to beautiful Lake Naivasha for an included hippo-spotting boat ride before lunch. Continue to the lands of the Masai people and be welcomed into a community by our local Masai guide and his villagers. Our camp site allows us not to infringe upon the village, while still allowing for meaningful interaction with these proud people and their territory. Day 4 Loita Hills/Masai Mara (1B, 1L, 1D) With its vast open plains and distinctive flat-topped acacia trees, no visit to Kenya would be complete without a visit to the Masai Mara. Spend time wildlife viewing in our overland adventure vehicle (OAV), with excellent chances of seeing the Big Five - lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant, and rhino. Marvel at gazelles, impala, and ostrich from wonderful vistas along the Esoit Oloololo Escarpment. Day 5 Masai Mara (1B, 1L, 1D) Enjoy wildlife safari drives in the overland adventure vehicle (OAV) in search of the Big Five. Included Activities: Masai Mara Wildlife Safari Drive
Day 6 Masai Mara/Nairobi (1B, 1L) Enjoy a morning wildlife safari drive, then travel through the land of the Masai people to Nairobi. Included Activities: Masai Mara Wildlife Safari Drive Transport: Overland adventure vehicle (OAV) (7.00 hour(s), 250km)
Day 7 Nairobi/Arusha (1B, 1D) Travel south and cross the border into Tanzania. Included Activities: Border Crossing (Kenya - Tanzania) Transport: Shuttle (7.00-8.00 hours, 290km)
Day 8 Arusha/Mto wa Mbu (1B, 1L, 1D) Visit Mto wa Mbu village to enjoy a local lunch and cultural experience with the town's villagers. After lunch, continue on to visit a Masai village to learn about the Masai people and the G Adventures-supported Clean Cookstove project. Meet the local women engineers who have installed clean cookstoves throughout these communities. Day 9 Mto wa Mbu/Serengeti National Park (1B, 1L, 1D) Enjoy a wildlife safari drive en route to the central Serengeti. Spend the night at a basic bush camp and enjoy the starry African skies. Included Activities: Serengeti National Park Safari Transport: 7-seat 4x4 safari vehicle (190km)
Day 10 Serengeti National Park (1B, 1L, 1D) Enjoy a full-day wildlife safari drive in the safari vehicle. Opt for a morning hot air balloon ride over the Serengeti. Additional Notes: Please note: if you have pre-booked the Serengeti Balloon Safari, today's likely the day for this activity! Your CEO will give you final confirmation of when it will take place, as it is subject to change. Day 11 Serengeti National Park/Ngorongoro Crater (1B, 1L, 1D) Set off on a wildlife safari drive on the way out of the Serengeti. Camp on the Ngorongoro Crater's rim. Additional Notes: Please note that due to the high-altitude location of our camp, temperatures can drop at night. We recommend bringing extra layers to wear during the evening and following morning. Day 13 Arusha/Nairobi (1B) Hop on a transfer back to Nairobi, Kenya. Trip finishes upon arrival in the evening. Additional Notes: We'll arrange the shuttle transfer; all you have to do is hop on. The shuttle will drop you off at Hotel Boulevard in Nairobi. This is an unaccompanied transfer; no G staff will be present.
