The owners describe this beautiful spot as 'no news, no shoes', which says it all really. It's at the end of the 12km stretch of beach that begins in Shela (a little beyond Kipungani). The bar serves up refreshing cocktails, the food is healthy and hip, and hostess Mary-Jo always has great stories to tell.
There are miles of empty beach for lazing about, swimming with wild dolphins, kitesurfing and windsurfing. Only local materials have been used in the construction of the six spacious bandas (thatched-roof huts), which are simple but chic.
Situated along the sandy Kizingo Beach on Lamu Island, Kizingo offers thatched-roof chalets with panoramic views of the Indian Ocean. Guests can go swimming with wild dolphins and help with turtle conservation. The spacious chalets feature a veranda with a swing bed, as well as indoor seating. The en suite bathrooms are equipped with a shower. From November to April, guests have the opportunity to swim with wild dolphins. They can also go snorkelling, or enjoy a massage. The lodge has dining room and bar, which serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and afternoon tea. Free Wi-Fi is available in public areas. Kizingo is situated 14 km by boat from Lamu Town and from Manda Airport. Shela Village is 15 km away by boat.
Please note that there are no cars or roads on Lamu Island. The hotel can arrange a boat transfer to and from Manda Airstrip Lamu for USD 40 per boat, return.
