Wildlife in the Central Highlands

Much of the Central Highlands’ best wildlife viewing can be found in the conservancies and privately owned reserves on the Laikipia Plateau. Rhinos are best seen at Meru National Park, Ol Pejeta Conservancy and Lewa Wildlife Conservancy. Meru National Park is also particularly good for lions. The jungle of Aberdare National Park supports rare bongo antelope, elephants and black rhinos, although the thick cover makes sightings infrequent. Like Mt Kenya National Park, the real stars here are the flora.
