Savage Wilderness Safaris is easily Kenya's most experienced operator for whitewater rafting, with trips on the Tana, Athi and Mathioya rivers. Depending on water levels, rafting trips start from four to five hours, but longer trips (450km, three weeks’ duration) are also possible; most trips last one to four days and cover up to 80km.

Kayaking is also offered, as well as organised and customised walking, climbing and mountaineering trips, including climbs up Mt Kenya.

Its headquarters are 6km north of the Embu–Meru junction (or around 12km south of Sagana) along the main Nairobi–Nanyuki road.
