Hey!
I'm having a business trip in Almaty and I have 2 spare days (April 30, May 1st) there. What would be the best way to spend them? I'm thinking about day in Almaty and second day for Charyn Canyon, however all single 1 day tours there look quite expensive (starting USD 100 and onwards). Cheaper alternatives available? Maybe you have some better suggestions - the best, how to spend these 2 days and feel a bit of Kazakhstan?
Thanks!

Hi, I'll be in Almaty around end of august with family (8 years old son). I'd like to travel around south of Kazakstan for three weeks. I'd appreciate recommendations for the route) Also, I'd like to stay a few nights in yurta in a jailoo (real ones, not tourist camp). I've enjoyed the experience previously in Kirgizstan, Tadjikistan or Mongolia and I'd like to do it again with my family. Can anyone recommend any herders' summer camp in Kazakstan? thanks a lot and nice journeys.

Hello:)
Two photographers look for somebody to join photo trip from Almaty, from 16 to 20 April (to share cost). We take local 4WD with a driver. Our itinerary includes Altyn Emel, Sharyn Canyon, Tuzkol Lake (with central Tien Shan view) and some other places. It is tailored for photographers, with sunrises and sunsets in the most beautiful places. That means getting up very early and sleeping little... And standing with tripods long time in one place. Some nights in hotels/guesthouses, some in…

hello there :)

i will be travelling from West Europe to Xining in China, and am considering going through Kazakhstan :)

would 2 weeks at the end of August be a good time to hike? where do you suggest that i go with that amount of time? ideally looking for a hiking place where i can stay in guesthouses / huts, and not carry my own tent.

thank you :)

Does anyone have any information or advice about changing tenge into GBP, either in Almaty or Astana, or at Astana airport? Places to go or avoid; if one city is better or worse for exchange rates; words of warning; etc.

Many thanks.

Does any one knows if there is any train, whixh one I should take, how much it will cost and how long it will take? I have few times so I d like to book in advance :) If not, is it possible to book a long distance taxi not too expensive?
Many thanks for your help!

Hello, I will be in Almaty for about three weeks from late March and am curious about what 1-3 day excursions people would recommend? While I have your attention, I am also curious about...
1) How long does it take to get an Uzbekistan visa?
2) Are there places (hostels/cafes/pubs) that are friendly to English and/or people trying to meet up to plan excursions?
Many thanks in advance!

Hi. With my Brazilian passport, I need no visa also for Kazakhstan, and I stayed for 25 days in Kazakhstan last January and February. What will happen if I fly to Kazakhstan again this June? I am in Europe, going to the Kazakh Embassy in Brasilia, Brazil’s capital city, is out of the question.
TIA
