Hi, anyone who has been recently to Kazakhstan and took the high speed train (Talgo)? If yes, can you please tell me what are the numbers of those trains? I'm doing a search in tickets.kz and the fastest train there takes 14 hours and it is really an old train, as per the pics they have in "About Train". I'm just wondering if that is a Talgo train (it is a train that departs at 15:35).
Also, anyone took the seat (not the sleeping cabins)? How s it? Do the seats recline? I'm travelling alone and…
Has anyone biked between Atyrau and Beyneu, Kazakhstan, or know where I can find any information about biking the area? I can find lots of info about biking from Beyneu to Nukus, Uzbekistan, but not between Beyneu and Atyrau.
Thanks for helping.
Hi all, just planning my trip to Kazakhstan as part of an overland trip to China and there doesn't seem to be much in the way of decent hostels in Astana. The couple of hostels on Hostelworld look really dodgy and another one that was recommended, the Apple Hostel, doesn't seem to have a working website but it has had some recommendations on here.
I'm thinking of spending one or two nights in Astana en route to Novosibirsk so it would be good if there was a place where there is the odd…
Does anyone have a recommended Airbnb for Almaty? We're looking for somewhere relatively convenient for the main sights, and not in too nightlife-y or touristy an area of town, somewhere a bit more leafy and laid back. Ideally it'd be great to have a view of the city with the mountains.
I am looking for a partner to share taxi costs 29.06.18
I will be with bicycle in cardboard, so max 1-2 people can go with me , depends on the taxi size.
Next day the same story but to Osz.
I've been looking at Sky hostel and Almaty backpackers. It's so hard to know as reviews on booking, tripadvisor etc are not always from travellers.
I thought I had it narrowed down to these two, but maybe there are more to add to my list? I will be there in July and travelling solo.
Hi! I'm looking to join up with fellow travellers to reduce the cost of trips/tours outside Almaty (Charyn Canyon, Kolsai Lakes, Altyn Emel National park, Kaindy ). My dates are June 12-18. If you're around then, planning to see some of these, and want to lower your costs, please let me know.
i'm from Canada
Just wanted to share my experience in case it helps anyone out.
I was in Astana on a 30day visa-free entry. Unfortunately 5 days before I was due to leave, the white migration card somehow fell out of my passport during a trip to Shymkent.
This white migration card is extremely important, and I was told by several official sources that I wouldn't be allowed out of the country without it. I'm not entirely sure it has a useful purpose anymore, but Kazakh bureaucracy is slow to change.
I will be visiting khazakstan and uzbekistan this september and cant seem to find any up to date info about the actual presence of shipwrecks or shipyards in the aralsk area or moynaq area in uzbekistan. Can anyone who have been there recently update me?
Now that the ferry docks at the new port near Kuryk, it seems really difficult to get onward transport, if you've not crossed with a car. So far I've only heard of people hitching, which is very much not ideal in this case.
Does anyone know of any other possible ways of getting to Aktau, in order to then get a train to Nukus?
