There's a small selection of souvenirs around the castle area.

Al Malek Hussein St

For an idea of how the people of Karak like to spend their money, take a walk down Al Malek Hussein St – the road that leads from Castle Plaza to the Saladin statue. Here you will find tailors stitching fake fur to collars; leather jackets and red woollen sweaters dangling in the wind; vendors with rakishly tied headscarves and broken-backed shoes (the local answer to slip-ons); bushy green bundles of coriander hanging from butchers’ shops; fennel, turnips and shaggy-mopped carrots begging to be bought for a picnic; and locally gathered herbs in textile bags flagging the outside of spice and coffee-bean shops. There's even a small gold souq – selling mostly silver.
