Isego Honten

Alcohol in Ueno & Yanesen

This sake-ya (liquor shop), on a residential street in Sendagi, has been run by the same family for over 300 years. There's usually someone on hand who speaks some English, who can help you pick something from the selection of craft nihonshu (sake) and shōchū (distilled liquor usually made from barley or sweet potato) and domestic wines.

The Naka-Meguro shop has a counter bar where you can order nihonshu by the glass (around ¥500).
