Udon in Ueno & Yanesen

Freshly made udon (thick wheat noodles) are the speciality at this popular restaurant, in a beautifully restored brick warehouse from 1910 that's incorporated into a building designed by Kengo Kuma. In addition to noodles, the menu includes a good selection of sake and lots of small dishes (such as grilled fish, veggies and a delicious Japanese-style omelette).

A communal table provides a lovely view onto a garden.
