Open Book

Bar in Shinjuku & Northwest Tokyo

Part of the new generation of Golden Gai bars, the Open Book is run by the grandson of award-winning novelist Tanaka Komimasa (whose collection of well-loved books line the walls). The house special is an upgraded take on an old classic, the 'lemon sour' (shōchū distilled liquor, soda water and lemon juice; ¥700). Look for the sliding wooden door. ¥300 cover charge.
