Restaurants and bars cluster in the covered arcades to the west side of the tracks between Kotoden Kataharamachi and Kawaramachi stations. In particular, north–south running Lion-dōri and its side streets throw up an abundance of eating and drinking options. People here are serious about their udon and no trip would be complete without at least one bowl of Sanuki-udon. Look for the words te-uchi udon (手打ちうどん), meaning 'handmade noodles'.
