A little slice of mountain life a stone's throw from Susukino – you can use the climbing wall to get to the 2nd-floor dorms instead of the stairs – SappoLodge is a magnet for outdoorsy types who find themselves in the city. The only downside is the noise from the (fun, popular) ground-floor bar until 'quiet time' is enforced at midnight.
Owner (and Sapporo native) Nara-san is a real adventurer. He worked as a guide for 14 years and this is his form of 'retirement' – though he still takes guests on hiking and backcountry excursions to his favourite spots (shoot him an email if you're keen).
Situated a 5-minute walk from the lively Susukino area in Sapporo, the SappoLodge offers cosy rooms with free WiFi access. The property is decorated in warm wood tones and has a shared lounge great for socialising. A convenience store is a minutes' walk away, while Hosui-Susukino subway station is a 2-minute walk from the property. Guests can rent a bike to explore the city of Sapporo or enjoy hiking and skiing nearby. Staff will assist you with arranging sightseeing and outdoor tours. The property bar on the ground floor boasts wooden furnishings, and guests can unwind and drink with other guests and locals alike. Many dining options are available within walking distance as well. Some rooms feature Japanese-style futon bedding and tatami (woven straw) floors while other rooms offer Western bedding. Bathrooms, toilets and wash-basins are shared with other guests. A microwave, an electric kettle and kitchenware are available at the shared kitchen. Sapporo Station can be reached with a 4-minute subway ride from nearby Hosui Susukino Station. The Odori Park, located in the heart of Sapporo, is a 10-minute walk from the property. Other attractions including the famous Sapporo Clock Tower, the Sapporo TV Tower, Old Hokkaido Government Building, Nakajima Park, Sapporo Factory and Nijo Market are within easy access.
Due to it being an old wooden building, noise travels through easily throughout the building. Guests may experience noise from the ground floor bar.
