Kabuki (a form of stylised Japanese theatre) is Japan's most famous classical entertainment; see it in Tokyo or Kyoto. Tokyo is the centre of Japan's contemporary theatre scene (admittedly hard to appreciate without Japanese language skills), though Kyoto is seen as edgier. Larger cities have venues for live music and stadiums dedicated to the country's favourite sport, baseball. Tournaments of sumo (Japan's traditional sport) take place six times a year.
