This 3 days and 2 nights tour allows you to experience some of the most popular places in central Japan in a short amount of time. The tour leaves from either Osaka or Kyoto and takes you on a journey through the old picturesque Japan. See Shirakawago, Hida Takayama, Mt Fuji, and Kawaguchiko before being dropped off in Tokyo.
DAY 1:Your first stop for the day is Biwako, the largest fresh water lake in Japan, which you will be able to view in all its greatness from the observation deck. After a brief stop at the expressway rest area, where you can also purchase, or only have a look at, traditional Seki Knives, head for Gujo-Hachiman, the Water City, famous throughout Japan for its pristine rivers and water springs. Enjoy a relaxing lunch in a local restaurant, where you will also be able to witness firsthand how Japanese food samples (food replicas) are made (12:20-1:40pm). If you feel creative, you can also make your own samples and take them back as souvenirs.
From here, head to Shirakawago (3:10-4:30pm). Explore and allow yourself to be fascinated by this World Heritage site with Gassho style houses said to have stood for over 300 years, a place of unique cultural practices and lifestyle that can still be experienced today.
The final stop of the day is Takayama (ETA 5:20pm), where you will be spending the night.
DAY 2:Start the day walking around the Takayama Morning Market (Untill 8:45am), where you can enjoy a wide variety of delicious and creative local specialties, such as freshly squeezed orange juice served in orange peel cups or freshly brewed coffee in cookie cups. From here, head to a Japanese Sake brewery and experience the makings of traditional Japanese Sake, whie also delighting your tastebuds. Make a stop at Lake Suwa Observatory, which is the place where the story of the popular animated film "Your Name" ("Kimi no Na wa") was set, before travelling to Mt. Fuji.
Upon arriving at Mt. Fuji 5th Station (ETA 3:30pm), spend the following 40 minutes discovering and soaking in the breathtaking views of Japan. A well known symbol of Japan standing at 3776 meters high, the spectacular Mt.Fuji has made the subject of literature and art throughout Japanese history. After Mt. Fuji, head to Kawaguchiko for the night (ETA 5:05pm).
DAY 3:Spend a leisurely day exploring the surroundings and relaxing by the lakeside, or spare a couple of hours and embark on an adventure into old Japan with the Ninja Experience private tour (*Option 1). The tour takes you to the small village of Oshino, where you can revel in the historical and traditional beauty as well as the untouched nature surrounding the eight ponds area (Oshino Hakkai). The clear spring water in the ponds comes from snow melt from the slopes of nearby Mt.Fuji filtered down the mountain and it hosts a large variety of fish and plant life.
End the adventure by boarding the bus to Tokyo (5:10pm), where you will be dropped off at either the Metropolitan Government Office parking lot in Shinjuku, Tokyo (ETA 7:10pm), or the Sunshine Hotel in Ikebukuro, Tokyo (ETA 7:35pm).
