Hanover Museum

Museum in Lucea

A side road beside the Catholic church leads to this interesting, refurbished museum inside the former Hanover workhouse, which has served as a prison and police station. It's an absorbing insight into the sugar-plantation era, with local slave records, a gibbet, stocks and manacles on display, as well as a hand-drawn map of Lucea Harbour by Captain William Bligh. Taíno articles found at nearby Moskito Cove are also displayed here alongside miscellaneous English lead weights and measures.
