Venetian in Castello

Just a stone’s throw from St Mark’s Square, this is a rarity: a reasonably priced wine bar and restaurant in the most touristy part of town. Cicheti (Venetian tapas) at the bar include king prawns in saor (marinated with onions) and other local stalwarts.

It's a popular haunt with Venetian workers, but the kitchen stays open until 11pm for tardy diners.
