Enjoy a 2-hour walking tour of San Gimignano, this charming Tuscan town, which dates back to Etruscan times. San Gimignano, perched on a hilltop, offers panoramic views of the surrounding countryside; its medieval architecture has remained incredibly preserved through the centuries.
You'll meet our guide in front of the main entrance gate of the city, the ‘Porta di San Giovanni’, where you’ll be given an introduction to the history of the city. Then you'll be taken on a stroll through the main street, to the center of city, where you'll discover the unique history of the Romanesque church of San Francesco, and see the impressive and powerful Cugnanesi tower. Don’t miss the chance to take pictures of the main square, the Cistern Piazza. You’ll learn about the Legend of the Devil's Tower, located in the north of the city, and walk to the Duomo Piazza, to look at the Great tower. Would you climb up? Then a rest of the tour will proceed in the beautiful gardens of the Montestaffoli Fortress, built by the Florentine troupes during the 14th century; finishing your tour at the Church of Saint Augustine.Changes to the itinerary are possible upon request.
