Private Tour: Lake Como and Valtellina Day Trip from Milan

From Milan (Central train station) take the train to Varenna (approx. 1-hour), a charming little village on the Lake Como right in front of Bellagio, another renowned 'treasure' of the lake. Your guide will meet you upon your arrival and you will enjoy a short walk of the picturesque village through the labyrinth of typically narrow streets, some of them built over the rock and cliff right above the water, and a breathtaking view. Then you will drive all the way up to Valtellina, which is a valley located in the Lombardy region (northern Italy) that begins right at the top of lake Como, as much as possible off the main roads, so that you can go through some tiny and pristine villages clinging to the mountains. If you like you can stop for lunch in a traditional restaurant. Then you will go through the scenic vineyards nestled to the lower part of the Alps. In the afternoon, you will have the option of enjoying a wine-tasting of some of the excellent wines, produced in the area, accompanied with local cold cuts and delicious cheese. Afterwards you will head back stopping here and there to see fantastic panorama and nature, driving the secondary road that follow the shape of the east coast of the lake Como. In the evening your guide will drop you off at the train station from where you can catch your train back to Milan!Optional Trip extension: after the wine tasting transfer to your hotel. The following day, after breakfast, your guide will drive you all the way up the "Valtellina" valley to the famous winter and summer resort of Bormio where you will take a walk of the historical downtown, go to the "shopping" street of "via Roma" and you will have the option of trying either the natural hot spring water facilities, one of which dates back to the Roman Empire, or the skiing slopes where the World Cup downhill takes place every year!
