Within walking distance of just about anywhere worth going to, the modern, if slightly bland, Montestella is on Salerno’s main pedestrian thoroughfare, halfway between the centro storico (historic centre) and train station. Although some rooms are quite small, all are light and contemporary, with firm beds and patterned feature walls.
The breakfast spread is decent and you'll find a handy underground car park a couple of blocks away (€25 for 24 hours).
Hotel Montestella is on the main street, Corso Vittorio Emanuele, in Salerno's pedestrian area. Only 400 metres from the train station, this family-run hotel offers air-conditioned rooms with free Wi-Fi. Rooms have a modern design, parquet floors and an LCD TV. Each one has a desk, minibar and private bathroom. The Montestella Hotel serves a sweet and savoury buffet at breakfast each morning. Salerno Cathedral is 800 metres away and both the tourist and commercial harbours are nearby.
