No trip to Rome would be complete without a tour of the ancient Colosseum and Roman Forum. Your expert guide will bring these historic areas to life as they tell you about their historical and cultural importance. Your small group tour includes a timed skip-the-line entrance to the Colosseum and priority tickets to the Forum. After visiting these important sites, we have a treat for you - a visit to the gorgeous building known as Il Vittoriano, where you will be able to experience breathtaking views over the eternal city of Rome with an option to take a ride to their rooftop terrace (cost of terrace access not included). Few places can give you such a gorgeous view of the city, overlooking the historic churches, the River Tiber, the Jewish Ghetto, and over to Capitol Hill and the Quirinale.
Meet your tour guide and group at your predetermined meeting point in mid-afternoon. From there, follow your English-speaking guide to some of Rome's most iconic landmarks. Upon your arrival at the Colosseum, skip the line, and explore the largest amphitheater ever built by the Roman Empire. See where gladiators once fought as if you have stepped back into time. Next, move on to the ancient Roman Forum, allowing your host to take you to the difference sites. Listen, as you are told the background history and fun facts about each location. From there, venture on to the Altare della Patria, or, as it’s also known locally, the Monumento Nazionale or Vittoriano. The Vittoriano itself was built between 1885 and 1911 in order to celebrate the unification of Italy under King Vittorio Emanuele II. The tour will come an end here at the Piazza Venezia. The tour will be enhanced by a tasting of authentic Italian Gelato and the opportunity to take plenty of memorable photographs.
