Michelangelo Merisi, alias Caravaggio, is considered one of the greatest painters of all time. He spent the majority of is life in Rome where you will find all of his magnificent masterpieces. Meet your guide in Piazza del Popolo at the Church of S. Maria del Popolo, where you can find the Crucifixion of St. Peter and the Conversion of St. Paul. Then you pass near two of his residences in Rome, Palazzo Madama, seat of the Senate and Giustiniani Palace, which now hosts offices of the Senate. Your guide will tell you about peculiar events in Caravaggio’s life and also explanations on architectural or actual functions of the main Italian Government houses such as Montecitorio Palace, House of Parliament. During your walking tour you will see the major masterpieces of Caravaggio, that are The Life of St. Matthew in St. Luigi dei Francesi Contarelli Chapel, and the poetry of the Madonna of the Pilgrims in St. Augustine. Together you can admire some architectural baroque masterpieces such as the Church of St. Ignatius. As you pass you can also have a look at Pantheon and hear about his ancient stories.
