Flights & getting there
Reggio is on the Via Emilia (SS9) and A1 autostrada. The SS63 is a tortuous but scenic route that takes you southwest across the Parma Apennines to La Spezia on the Ligurian coast.
Reggio Emilia has two train stations: the normal station, Stazione di Reggio Emilia, is east of the town centre, while the high-speed station, Stazione di Reggio Emilia AV Mediopadana, is on the Milan-Bologna line 4km north of the centre along the A1 autostrada. Half-hourly trains serve all stops on the Milan–Bologna line, including Milan (regional/express from €13/15, 1½ to 2½ hours), Parma (from €3.05, 15 minutes), Modena (from €3.05, 15 minutes) and Bologna (from €6, 45 minutes).
