Flights & getting there

Air

Abruzzo International Airport Pescara's airport is 3km out of town and easily reached by bus 38 (€1.10, 20 minutes, every 15 minutes) from in front of the train station. Ryanair flies to London Stansted, and Alitalia flies to Milan.

Bus

TUA buses leave from Piazzale della Repubblica in front of the train station for L'Aquila (€8.80, 1½ hours, 10 daily), Sulmona (€6.80, one hour, 11 daily), Naples (€26, four hours, five daily), Rome (€7 to €15, three hours, 11 daily) and towns throughout Abruzzo and Molise. There's a small ticket office and cafe on the edge of the car park.

Flixbus (www.flixbus.com) runs buses to Rome's Tiburtina station (€11, three hours, four daily) and Isernia (€10, 2½ hours, one daily).

Train

Pescara's huge main train station (called Pescara Centrale) looks more like an airport terminal. Direct trains run to Ancona (from €11 to €22, 1¼ to 2¼ hours, frequent), Bari (from €33.50, 2¾ to 4¾ hours, frequent), Rome (from €14.50, 3½ to 5½ hours, seven daily) and Sulmona (€5.90, 1¼ hours, 20 daily).
