Getting There & Away
Parma is on the A1 connecting Bologna and Milan, and just east of the A15, which runs to La Spezia. Via Emilia (SS9) passes right through town.
Parma's Giuseppe Verdi Airport is a mere 3km from the city centre. Ryanair (www.ryanair.com) offers service to Trapani and Cagliari; Mistral Air (www.mistralair.it) to Olbia; and FlyOne (www.flyone.md) to Chișinău (Moldova). Bus 6 (Aeroporto), best caught heading north along Viale Toschi near Palazzo della Pilotta, links to both the train station and airport (€1.20).
From the bus station, attached to the north side of Parma's train station, TEP operates buses throughout the region; and Flixbus (www.flixbus.com) goes to Rome, Milan, Naples and Perugia, among others.
There are trains once or twice hourly from Parma's newly remodelled train station to Milan (regional/express €11.10/19.90, 1¼ to 1¾ hours), Bologna (€7.35, one to 1¼ hours), Modena (€5.40, 30 minutes) and Piacenza (€5.40, 40 minutes, half-hourly).
The taxi queue is unsigned and difficult to find on arrival at the train station. It's on level one along Viale Falcone on the west side of the station. A taxi to the airport from the station runs around €10.
