Boat

Milazzo is the primary point of departure for ferries and hydrofoils to the Aeolian Islands, with three companies providing year-round service. The main operators – Liberty Lines, Siremar and NGI – have ticket offices along Via dei Mille opposite the port.

Bus

Buses depart from Piazza della Repubblica near the port. Giuntabus runs frequently to/from Messina (€4.20, 50 minutes, 18 daily Monday to Friday, 15 on Saturday, three on Sunday), where you can make onward connections to Catania (€9.30).

Car & Motorcycle

Milazzo is situated just off the A20-E90 toll road that travels between Messina and Palermo.

If you want to leave your car in Milazzo while you island-hop, private garages charge around €12 per day. A less expensive alternative is to park on the street in spaces marked with blue lines; buy scratch-off parking tickets (€5 per 24hr, available at tobacconists) for as many days as you'll be gone and place them all visibly on your car's dashboard. Short-term street parking (€0.70 per hour) is also available in the same spaces. For a partial list of garages, see www.parcheggiomilazzoportogarage.blogspot.it.

Train

Regular services travel to Palermo (from €11.30, 2½ to 3¾ hours, 13 daily), Cefalù (€8.70, 1¾ to 2¼ hours) and Messina (€3.80, 20 to 35 minutes, hourly).
