Flights & getting there
Aeroporto di Lampedusa is just 1km east of the main town and the ferry dock. DAT (www.dat.dk) offers direct flights from Palermo and Catania, while Volotea (www.volotea.com) flies direct to Bergamo, Genoa, Turin, Venice and Verona. A handful of other airlines connect Lampedusa with Rome, Milan and/or Bologna, including Alitalia (www.alitalia.com), Blue Panorama (www.blue-panorama.com), Neos (www.neosair.it) and Vueling (www.vueling.com).
Siremar (www.carontetourist.it/en/siremar) and Traghetti delle Isole (www.traghettidelleisole.it) both run year-round ferries from Porto Empedocle to Lampedusa (€49, 9¾ hours). Between late June and September, Liberty Lines (www.libertylines.it) also runs four to five weekly hydrofoils along this same route (€61, 4¼ hours).
