Eating

The best place to browse for restaurants is along Lampedusa's main street, Via Roma, and perpendicular streets such as Via Vittorio Emanuele. Fresh seafood is at the heart of Lampedusa's cuisine, with pesce spada (swordfish), sgombro (mackerel), cernia (grouper) and dentice (snapper) all making frequent appearances. Other local specialties include pasta alla bottarga di ricciola (pasta with amberjack roe, local capers, lemon juice and olive oil) and fish couscous.
