Where to Stay
Naples' varied slumber options include frescoed palazzi, converted convents and monasteries, and the homes of local artists and intellectuals.
Accommodation on the islands, Amalfi Coast and in Sorrento tends towards the higher end of the market and is generally seasonal. Due to the sheer number of visitors, it is strongly advisable to book ahead as far as possible if you'll be staying in high season. Options run the gamut from historic palazzi to idiosyncratic B&Bs, with a sprinkling of budget pensioni and campsites.
For a more rural, off-the-beaten track experience, agriturismi (farm-stay accommodation) are increasingly opening up inland from the Amalfi Coast and still more in the Cilento region, particularly in and around the Parco Nazionale del Cilento, Vallo di Diano e Alburni.
