Basilicata in detail

Flights & getting there

Landlocked apart from small sections of Ionian and Tyrrhenian coast, Basilicata is usually reached by road from Calabria, Campania or Puglia. Major roads include the SS96 (connecting Matera with Bari), the A2 (connecting Salerno and Reggio Calabria via the southwest corner of the region), and the SS7 (running from Matera to Taranto and Lecce). A minor rail route runs through Basilicata, connecting Potenza with Metaponto to the east, and Salerno to the west.
