Your tour will begin at Piazza del Popolo, in front of Santa Maria del Popolo, which holds two extraordinary pieces from Caravaggio and is topped by a magnificent dome designed and frescoed by Raphael. Then, follow your guide to the historic center in the Campo Marzio district, along Via Ripetta, where Caravaggio famously drew his inspiration from the residents of the area. From here, head to the beautiful church Santa Maria della Pace, taking in Raphael’s fresco of Sybil’s dance and the angels that adorn the ceiling. Continue to the Saint’Agostino church to enjoy a painting and a fresco before moving on to the church of San Luigi dei Francesi, where the trilogy dedicated to San Matteo is kept, some of the most mysterious and intense paintings ever created by Caravaggio. The last attraction of your tour will be the Pantheon, one of the most impressive architectural features of the city. It was the first pagan temple to be converted to Christianity and today is home to the tombs of the first two kings of Italy, placed here after unification in 1861. After exploring the interior, your tour will conclude in Piazza delle Coppelle.
