Tour description provided by Viator

The ascent to Mount Sibilla is not an excursion like the others: it is a journey in the past, to roots, along a path that links history and legend, more ancient than ever. We will walk on the Mount Zampa ridge, with the Vettore and the valley of Lake Pilato on one side and the vertiginous view on the Gorge of Infernaccio on the other. Of course we will stop at the Cave of Sibilla, already a place of worship in the Piceni and a destination in the Middle Ages of adventurers, knights and necromancers and we will conquer the peak at an altitude of 2173 mt which gives its name to the Sibillini chain. It is not an excursion too demanding, but a workout and a habit of walking are required.
Mount Sibilla is a mountainous relief (2.173 m) of the Apennine group of the Sibillini. It takes its name from the Apennine Sibyl, mythical inhabitant of the homonymous cave (located near the summit) that for centuries has sailed the height of an aura of legend and mystery. The trek will start in "Rifugio Sibilla" 1540 mt after a dirt road you have to drive along to reach the departure point.  Difficulty E / I (Easy / Intermediate). Distance: 12 km Drop: 600m Time: 4.5h Materials: waterproof cape, hiking boots or shoes with sculpted sole, layered clothing, anorak, hat. Front lamp or flashlight (in case of night excursion).
