in Vale of Avoca

Ireland's oldest working mill is the birthplace of Avoca Handweavers, a company that is now famous across Ireland and the world. The mill has been turning out woollen and other fabrics since 1723, and many of Avoca's clothing and homewares (blankets, cushion covers and more) are produced here and sold in the neighbouring shop.

You're free to wander around the weaving sheds and to chat with the weavers. The cafe serves warming soups, salads, sandwiches and pastries. Arrive early or late to avoid coach tour groups.
