Slieve Bloom Mountains

Populated Ireland recedes into your rear-view mirror when you drive up into the wild, desolate Slieve Bloom Mountains, which rise dramatically from the Laois plain. The lower slopes are home to generic conifer farms, but higher up the sense of being away from it all permeates as you explore deserted blanket bogs, moorland, pine forests and isolated valleys.
