Flights & getting there

Air

The nearest airport to Killarney is Kerry Airport, at Farranfore, 17km north of Killarney on the N22. There are daily flights to Dublin and London's Luton and Stansted airports, and less frequent services to Berlin and Frankfurt in Germany.

The small airport has a restaurant, bar, bureau de change and ATM. Virtually all the major car-hire firms have desks at the airport.

Transport Options

Bus Éireann (www.buseireann.ie) has hourly services between Killarney and Kerry Airport (€5.50, 20 minutes).

Tralee–Killarney trains (www.irishrail.ie) stop at Farranfore station (€8.80, 20 minutes, every two hours), 1.3km southwest of the airport (a 10-minute walk at minimum).

A taxi to Killarney costs about €20.

Bus

Bus Éireann operates from the bus station on Park Rd. For Dublin you need to change at Cork – the train is much faster.

Limerick €14.25, 1¼ hours, four or five daily

Tralee €10.45, 40 minutes, hourly

Waterford €24.70, 4¾ hours, five daily

Train

Killarney's train station is behind the bus station, just east of the centre.

There are one or two direct services per day to Cork and Dublin; otherwise you'll have to change at Mallow.
