Flights & getting there


Bus Éireann operates daily services to all major cities in the Republic and the North from Cara Bus Station, near the train station. Hourly services include the following:

Cork bus 51, €20, 4½ hours

Dublin bus 20/X20, €16, 3½ hours

Dublin Airport bus 20/X20, €19, four hours

Shannon Airport bus 51, €10, 1¾ hours.

Citylink services depart from Galway Coach Station, northeast of Eyre Sq. Destinations include the following:

Clifden (Connemara) €14, 1½ hours, six daily

Cork €18, three hours, five to eight daily

Dublin €13, 2½ hours, hourly

Dublin Airport €18, three hours, hourly

Limerick €14, 1¼ hours, five daily

GoBus also has frequent services from Galway Coach Station to Dublin (€13, 2½ hours) and Dublin Airport (€18, 2½ hours).

Shuttle buses serve Connemara Regional Airport, for Aer Arann flights to the Aran Islands, and the ferry dock at Rossaveal for Aran Island ferries.


From the train station, just off Eyre Sq, there are six to nine direct trains daily to/from Dublin's Heuston Station (€18, 2½ hours), and three to five daily to Ennis (€8, 1¼ hours). Connections with other train routes can be made – some involve changing at Athlone (€11, one hour, four to 10 daily).
