Easkey is one of Europe's best year-round surfing destinations. However, in pubs with names like Lobster Pot and Fisherman's Weir, conversations revolve around hurling and seafood prices; the road to the beach is just east of town. Facilities are few; most surfers camp (free) around the ruins of Easkey Castle by the sea.
When driving into town from the east, look out for the Split Rock, a huge boulder split in two, whose origins have generated much folklore and legend. It is said that if you squeeze through the split three times, it will close on you.
