Mizen Head tout through Killarney National Park, Kenmare to Glengariff through Caha Pass. Heading to Bantry along Atlantic Ocean coast of West Cork to Mizen Head. At the first stage we will drive through Killarney National Park visiting Torc Waterfall, beautiful plase created by nature, hidden in always green, very dense medival forest. Heading along N71 we reach Ladies View, first place at our tour with spectacular view at the lakes of Killarney National Park. Driving away through Moll's Gap towards Kenmare town, one of most cute place in Ireland. Druid's stone circle (circa 3000 years old) and Cromwell's bridge ( circa 1000 years old) are waiting for you in Kenmare. Town itself as well, specially on Wednesday which is fair market day, where local fishermen , farmers and craftsmen are selling own products. Leaving Kenmare, we cross Kenmare River, heading to Glengariff village. There are three places to stop on the way. Bonane Heritage Park with it's attractions. Evidence of stone fort, ruins of traditional Irish cottage and stone circle called locally "Judge and Jury" because of 13 stones. Next stop at Lorge Chcolatier. Little, family run chocolate factory, at this place you can refill you energy for further travel. Moving along N71 we have to pass road works zone, nothing unusual but digger driver working here has stumbled across a thousand-year-old tunnel, what is the evidence of early human activity on this area.Driving up to the mountains through more present tunnels but still old. hand carved by men without diggers and bulldozers. Last, longest tunnel is actually a link between Kerry County and Cork. Glengariff village next. Before or after we can visit seals, lazy relaxing on rocks, just short walk through Glengariff Park.Driving around a bay we reach Bantry town and road R591 towards Durrus. Moving along the coast to Toormore and further to Mizen Head, passing beautiful views at the Atlantic and countryside of West Cork. Mizen Head itself will deliver you unforgettable impressions, such a close contact to wild Atlantic. Sheeps Head 5 Day Self Guided Hike

Day 1: Arrival in Bantry - Arrive in Bantry, a beautiful town nestled at the head of the famous and beautiful Bantry Bay.  Your first night is spent 5km from Bantry at the start of the Sheep’s Head Way, where you will collect your “Information Pack”. Overnight near Bantry. Day 2: Bantry to Glenlough - Walk from the start of the Sheep’s Head Way to Glanlough. Overnight in the village of Kilcrohane which lies under the shadow of ‘Seefin’, the Peninsula’s highest point. Kilcrohane has an all year round population of approximately 300 persons but this number more than doubles during the busy summer season.  Walk Details: Distance: 16kms. Duration: 4.5 hours. Max. Height: 230m. Rocky and grass mountain tracks with some road walking Can be wet underfoot – boots essential. Day 3: Cahergal to Kilcrohane - You will be transferred to Cahergal from where you walk out along to the Lighthouse (look out for the Dolphin and Whale viewpoint), continuing back the Sheep’s Head route to Kilcrohane, the last coastal village on the Peninsula. This location is renowned for its beautiful coastline, idyllic views and world-famous hill walking routes. Overnight in Kilcrohane. Walk Details: Distance: 24kms. Duration: 6/7 hours. Max. Height: 240m. Rocky and grass mountain tracks with boggy sections. Some road walking – boots essential. Day 4: Ahakista to Durrus - Walk from nearby Ahakista to Durrus along the Sheep’s Head route. Overnight at Durrus, a very pleasant village located at the head of Dunmanus Bay. Ahakista is the site for a Memorial to those who lost their lives off this coast in the Air India air crash of 1985.  Walk Details: Distance: 14kms. Duration: 4 hours. Max. Height: 120m. Rocky and grass mountain tracks with boggy sections. Some road walking – boots essential. Day 5: Departure Day - After breakfast your host will arrange a taxi transfer back to Bantry, we also understand that there is a “local” bus service … details of which are available from your host.
